Howdy!
Welcome to Red Barn Books Inc., where we offer a fresh take on the old west. We work with Alberta authors and artists to create content that celebrates horses, cowboys and western heritage – small-batch books that leave a hoofprint on readers’ hearts.
Red Barn Books was named 'Emerging Publisher of the Year' by the Book Publishers Association of Alberta in 2020. Yeehaw!
You'll find our small but growing list of titles at bookstores, artisan markets, western stores, and art galleries in Alberta. Purchase wholesale from Alpine Book Peddlers out of Canmore, ULS in Calgary, or UTP Distribution nationally.
Can't find us where you are? Pop a note to ayesha@redbarnbooks.ca and she'll try to get us there. Thank you for supporting CanLit and indie creators. Happy reading!

AYESHA CLOUGH, Publisher
Red Barn Books was started by former news reporter and editor Ayesha Clough (pr eye-sha cluff) in January 2019. She couldn’t find many good books for her son about horses and cowboys, so she decided to make some! She wants Alberta kids to have Alberta stories, so they grow up knowing their own history, culture, and Canadian role models.
Ayesha has a Masters in Journalism from UBC and a Bachelor of Business Administration from SFU. Her career high is working for the BBC News in London, England. More recently, she’s been a reporter and editor for CBC Vancouver and Calgary. After giving up news, she can breathe easy in her ‘country condo’ in Carstairs, Alberta, slow cooking books that are at once beautiful, informative, and inspirational.
Ayesha lives with her husband, son and doggo. Their two horses get the fancy barn and run of the property.
LIA GOLEMBA, Creative Director
Lia Golemba is an artistic genius who hasn’t met a medium she can’t work in. She teaches at Alberta University of the Arts (AUArts), but makes time for niche artistic ventures as principal of Pink Spot Studios. Her talents span design, illustration, fashion and fine art. Lia thinks in pictures and likes colouring outside the lines. She burns through computers, as well as the midnight oil.
Lia has dual degrees in education and design. She lives in Airdrie, Alberta, with her husband, two boys, and a pug called Jax. Lia was recognized as the Airdrie Professional Artist of the Year in 2019.
OUR TRIBE
We are supported by family and friends. Some have put up their own money to help get us going. A special shoutout to the late Frank W Dabbs, who got us to dream big, and believed in us from the get-go. Shoutout also to Jeananne Kirwin from Kirwin LLP for supporting us on the legal side. And to the Elders, librarians, teachers and subject matter experts who give freely of their time and expertise.
Amazing things happen when you do something worthwhile.
